When you look back at the Fashion Trends in 1945, you will see that it was a golden period for the fashion industry. After World War II ended, people were not able to afford expensive brand names and so they began making their own clothing. This movement also gave birth to the first fashion trends which included the cutting of patterns, the use of colors and the making of clothes for the masses. The people were now able to make their own style statement with their outfits and they quickly got popular. The following year, the first New York Fashion Week took place which was attended by people from all walks of life including celebrities and royalty. This event helped the industry to understand what fashion trends are about and how people were willing to spend money on them.

Fashion styles of the time included suits with puffed sleeves and high collars and stiff cuffs down to slacks that were brief and perfect for the office. It is interesting to note that even though people wore suits, they also dressed casually so that there was a lot of movement in the industry. The Polo shirt and tailcoat were two iconic pieces of clothing that were in style. Other trends that were popular were pencil skirts and boots for women and men who wore pants in the summer.

After the war, the fashion industry once again became competitive and innovative so that people were once again interested in taking part in fashion shows. After the war ended, people were not able to afford imported fashions and they looked back to the stylish designs that they had seen during the war and remembered the styles from their childhood. Fashion trends in the late 1940s were influenced by the Second World War and included relaxed clothing. People were also interested in jewelry, shoes, casual wear and outerwear. The fashion industry began to change again in the sixties and seventies when hippies and peace signs became popular amongst the population.
